Toshiba needs to make plans for life after HD DVD. The loss of the format war was a big blow to the company's strategy. They need to move on - selling upconverting DVD players isn't going to work, even if they are cheaper than Blu-Ray players and as good.
Prediction: By 19 July, 2009, Toshiba will either have a Blu-Ray player on the market, or have officially announced plans to do so.
