Google recently ran some tests to determine the impacts and value of allow users to re-rank, remove and/or comment on search results. At this time, Google is still not decided to make these features permanent while they consider the merits or demerits of such features and its impact.
PREDICTION: Google will announce formal launch of at least two of the following by end of 2008.
1. Users shall be able to re-rank search results
2. Users shall be able to remove search results
3. Users shall be able to add comment on search results

Some users are already seeing voting and removing search results from their search, so I'd say it's a done deal.

@Cyndy, what was reported was a trial by Google (which was a limited trial). The prediction is for formal introduction (rather than a trial) to such capabilities.
This seems like a done deal to me. I can already "influence" the search results, too. David - do you think Google will remove the current functionality after the "test" is over", i.e. the test will fail?
@Eric, I am not seeing options to influence search results. Are you referring to Experimental Search under Google Labs?
@David, you don't see the Promote/Delete buttons next to each search result? (little buttons to the right of each main document title in Google search results)
Regardless of browser/computer, I get the same thing. Maybe its geographically controlled?
@Eric.My bad. Google launched SearchWiki on November 20 which allows for customization (promote, remove, comment) AFTER sigining in. No customization options available if not signed in. Nevertheless, the prediction is now moot.
