Well, this one is a no-brainer, but we had to wait until now to officially close it out. The community was correct, even way back when this prediction was created. --The Industry Standard

Rumors are swirling about Apple releasing a new iPhone with better battery, more powerful antenna and use of UMTS - see http://www.heise.de/mobil/iPhone-geruechteweise-ab-Sommer-mit-UMTS--/new... Other rumors discuss the use of the Intel Moorsetown/Atom chip set http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/12/future-iphone-to-use-intel-moorestow... Despite the excitement over such features, it is highly unlikely well see new Apple hardware before August 2008.

This prediction is not about the iPhone App Store, nor firmware updates. This is about the next major update for the iPhone's hardware. This prediction will be judged on August 1, 2008.

Are we talking about the announcement of a new iPhone or the actual ship date?

Shipping date

The double negative is a little confusing.. (I do mean little..)

The prediction - to be clear , should state no next generation iPhones in the US before August 2008

Your title has been corrected.

Uncle Walt says the next gen iPhone will be out in 60 days:

Garrick, we made a prediction on this too, hehe: http://thestandard.com/predictions/3g-iphone-arrives-within-60-days

Just announced availability date of July 11. This one is definitely going to fail.

Agreed. Unless the manufacturing plant goes on strike, this looks like easy money (with a small margin, but still . . .)

Remember what happened to the apple TV, was delayed over a month with production problems, its not beyond the realm of possibility.

This should be judged at 0% already.

@David It was, back on July 11th. It still sits around as a closed prediction.

Must be a bug that it still shows up on the View All Prediction page.
