Judgment on November 3, 2008: Netflix's stock closed on October 31, 2008, just under $25/share.  This prediction did not come true, which the community correctly predicted.  -- The Industry Standard

Original prediction: As it was reported in July, Netflix (NFLX) partnered with Microsoft to bring movie streaming to Xbox 360.

This huge deal is perceived by some as potential new growth to Netflix's distribution power with the anticipation of growing its subscribers from 8.2M to 20M.

As of writing, NFLX is at approx $31/share with a 52week high of $40.90 and low of $17.07.

Prediction: Will Netflix's stock rise above $40 by end of October 2008? Favorable judgement may be made as long as stock price hits the target during intraday trading and need not close at/above the target.

NFLX stock price today is below $29. Absent of some high profile acquisition, a 38%+ appreciation in under 2 months most unlikely to happen.

NFLX dipped below 30 today!

Even a miracle cannot save this now unless a hostile takeover takes place. NFLX down about 11% today to under $24.

Barring some incredible announcement, this seems impossible. Even after all of the market mayhem, NFLX is standing solidly at $25.

With the current situation on Wall Street and Main Street
I doubt that their stock would reach $40 by months end even though they are a great company.

NFLX closed at 24.76 today (last day of October). Judgment can now be made.

@TIS. Please judge. Frozen bet $ can be put to better use now.
