This prediction did not come true; the community was right.  Judged at 0%.  -- The Industry Standard

Original prediction:

The 'net is abuzz with Apple's latest patent application for what looks like a clamshell version of the oft-speculated iPhone Nano.

This is a prediction that must satisfy the following two conditions in order to be judged favorably:

1.) Apple releases an iPhone "Nano" (it need not be called the Nano per se, but it must be at least 70% of the size, judged by surface area of the face, of the current iPhone when closed i.e. in its most minimal configuration)

2.) The iPhone "Nano" as released also has a clamshell-like design based around at least one hinge on the device (even if that hinge ultimately serves a different purpose than it does for the clamshells we know and love. . .)

Of course it's also a guess at the new iPod Nano. Note that this prediction is for a new iPhone Nano.

There's no way Apple releases a new iPhone in the next month. Clamshell or otherwise

@Bradley, I concur that there is absolutely NO WAY Apple will release a new iPhone next month. That would not stop the Apple fanatics from wishful thinking or grinding the rumor mill. I do wish that someone WOULD swing the bet to the high % so I can load up :) Seriously, I wonder what can one do with a small touchscreen (of a nano). Imagine trying to browse using Safari on that tiny screen.

No launch of products come without accessories. Here is an accessories leak for the new Nano (http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/26/new-ipod-nano-and-touch-revealed-by-c...) which is consistent with the leaked picture of the nano (http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/23/kevin-rose-unearths-redesigned-ipod-n...)

Unfortunately both irrelevant to this prediction and a completely unreliable (read: poor photoshopping) image.

It may be photoshop. It may not. Just quite a bunch of these shots (captured in the wild). Here is yet another. As to the relevancy issue, if leaks are true, the new iPod Nano is NOT a clamshell.

Apple Let's Rock is done. No mention of this. Leaked articles were right on! This is looking good for judgement.

@TIS, can this be judged yet? There are no signs of clamshell iPhones.
